AFRICAN UNION OFFICE FOR THE AFRICAN PEER REVIEW MECHANISM (APRM)
The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), which is an African Union Office located in Midrand, South Africa, wishes to advertise the post of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of the APRM Secretariat. The Deputy CEO, under the direct supervision of the CEO, is the Deputy Head of the Secretariat and responsible to the APR Panel of Eminent Persons, who report to the Committee of Heads of State & Government of Participating Countries.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
· The Deputy CEO is responsible for discharging the functions of the CEO in the absence of the latter in the overall coordination and management of the activities and resources of the Office, including planning and overseeing country reviews;
· Ensuring the full implementation of the Host Country Agreement;
· Establishing and maintaining high level contacts in member states with Government Officials, the Private Sector, Professional Associations, and Civil Society Organizations, and with Strategic Partners (AfDB, UNECA and UNDP) as well as external partners.
Key qualifications
· Hold an advanced university degree in subjects of relevance to the activities of the Office;
· Have a solid knowledge of African development issues as well as Africa’s collective programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting sustained growth and sustainable development in Africa;
· Have held senior management responsibilities preferably in international organizations;
· Have proven leadership ability, as well as ability to communicate and interact with third parties;
· Have at least 15 years of experience with 5 years in managerial positions;
· Have excellent drafting ability in English or French with, preferably, a working knowledge of the other;
· Extensive knowledge of the Constitutive Act of the African Union as well as the overall objectives of the APRM;
· Have a full knowledge of computer systems, including internet navigation and various Microsoft Office applications.

The AU Office for APRM offers same conditions as for comparable levels at the African Union in South Africa, with immunities and privileges provided for in the Host Country Agreement.All applications, which should include a letter of motivation, detailed curriculum vitae, and three references, should be sent, not later than 20 June 2010 to the address below:
